“The World Ends with You” anime series adaptation has been revealed! The series will be handled by creators of the popular KINGDOM HEARTS series with Tetsuya Nomura, also known for his work on the FINAL FANTASY series, as the creative producer and character designer.
In 2008, the DS version of “The World Ends with You” was released and was hailed around the globe as a modern action RPG masterpiece. Since then, it has been released on iOS in 2012, on Android in 2014 and on the Nintendo Switch in 2018
Following up on our previous reveal of the Anime Expo 2020 key art featuring our mascots and the cast of “The World Ends with You”, we are pleased to announce that Anime Expo Lite will host a panel which will reveal information about the anime adaptation planned for Square Enix’s action RPG, “The World Ends with You”!
“The World Ends with You” has launched a teaser site with a countdown to their Anime Expo Lite panel which is scheduled for Friday, July 3 at 6 PM PDT (see timezone chart).
About “The World Ends with You”
An action RPG game developed by creative producer Tetsuya Nomura of SQUARE ENIX, known for his work as a character designer for the FINAL FANTASY series and as the director of the KINGDOM HEARTS series. The title received overwhelmingly positive reviews upon release, and the latest Final Remix version created a new group of fans on a brand new console.
Its unique atmosphere, featuring elements of street culture such as graffiti and hip-hop, brought Shibuya to life like never before and attracted a wide range of fans both in Japan as well as overseas.
Story
Neku, a boy who hates interacting with other people, awakens in Shibuya’s Scramble Crossing and finds himself trapped in a strange competition known as “the Reapers’ Game.”
In this “Game,” Players must complete a set of seven daily missions. Success ensures their survival, while failure means their entire existence will be erased.
Now an unwilling participant in this contest of the highest stakes, Neku fights to stave off erasure and live another day…
