Travis Japan is a song & dance entertainment group from Tokyo, Japan, brought together as children in 2012 when they were auditioned by the esteemed American choreographer Travis Payne (Michael Jackson’s This Is It, Lady Gaga’s The Monster Ball Tour, etc.). Since then, they have dazzled fans in Japan’s biggest concert venues with their catchy pop stylings and syncopated moves; an eclectic mix of the Japanesque with Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, and more!
In addition to regular appearances on Japanese music programs and variety television, they have also been honored to offer backdancer support to some of the biggest names in JPOP (ARASHI, Kis-My-Ft2, etc.) and in 2019 were selected as featured special guests during American artist Austin Mahone’s Dirty Work Japan Tour. Also in 2019, they headlined their first full-length solo stage show TORA JA -NINJAPAN- in Tokyo, Kyoto, Nagoya, and Hiroshima, which ran for three years as a spectacular blend of Japanese traditional dance and acrobatics alongside modern music stylings. While the global Covid-19 pandemic shifted most of what they had planned for 2020 onward, the group never lost their momentum or their dedication to entertainment and poured themselves into their social media channels as a means by which to keep their fans happy and smiling during the lockdowns and general malaise of a scaled-back society.
Comprised of Kaito “Chaka” Miyachika, Kaito “Umi” Nakamura, Ryuya “Shime” Shimekake, Noeru “Noel” Kawashima, Shizuya “Shizu” Yoshizawa, “Genta” Matsuda, and Kaito “Machu” Matsukura; Travis Japan’s 7 talented members are managed by the legendary Johnny & Associates and are currently living in Los Angeles to study, train, and work as they pursue their dreams of international stardom. They are so excited to be a part of Anime Expo 2022’s lineup, and to introduce American fans of Japanese pop culture to some of the male idols who inhabit it!
